What are giveaways?

We love hosting giveaways! It’s our way of giving back to our loyal readers (by hooking them up with some pretty sweet swag) while giving businesses like yours a chance to showcase some pretty cool products. Each giveaway sponsor is asked to donate a minimum of $25 of product (whether it’s one big prize or several smaller prizes) and ship those prize(s) to the winner(s) once the contest closes. Easy enough, right?

How does a giveaway work?

We’ll announce your giveaway in a dedicated post on a Monday. We prefer to write up the giveaway announcements ourselves, our readers respond better when our posts are written in our “voice”. Readers may then enter once per email address by commenting on that post, with additional entry options the more they Tweet it, Facebook it, blog it, etc.

Each contest closes that following Sunday evening at 8pm CST. We then randomly generate numbers to indicate which commenter haswon and the winner is announced the following Monday morning [a week after the giveaway was first announced] in a dedicated follow-up post. So that’s TWO posts dedicated to your products. We then pass the winner’s email address onto you so that you can get the item to them.

Who can sponsor a giveaway?

Anyone! Vendors as large as Ikea and as small as individual Etsy sellers can all host our giveaways. We only ask that your product/company match the spirit of our blog: fun & affordable solutions for designing your life at home, fashion, fun tech savvy gadgets, photography, entertainment, food, travel and eco-living. However we do reserve the right to exclude any product/company that we feel will be poorly received. After all, we want this to be a positive experience for you and our readers!

What do you need to know from me?

• What prize(s) do you want to give away? Prizes must be at least $25 in value.

• Where are you able to ship the prize? At a minimum, prizes must ship to all of the lower 48 United States. But if you’re willing to expand your boundaries to Alaska and Hawaii, as well as outside of the US you’re sure to win extra brownie points from our expansive international readership.

• Can you offer any special discounts to our readers? This is completely optional, but we encourage you to supply a limited-time offer such as a 10% off coupon code (or free shipping) for those who enter “moderncouple” at checkout. This has been known to drive up sales like crazy!

And if there’s anything else you feel we need to know, just include it in your email.
