jumping on the rast hacking bandwagon!

A couple weekends ago, while visiting my parents we took a little trip to Ikea. I had been wanting a few office storage items, along with two Rast dressers to flank our guest bed and allow our guests to have a little storage (since their closet is filled with.. well.. crap).

I’ve had big plans to “hack” my two Rasts and have a few ideas in mind, but it’s hard to decide! There are just so many really good Rast hacks out there already. Here are some of my faves:

See what I mean? Which hacks have you come across that you love? Have you hacked your own rast (or other Ikea piece?) Do tell!

summer looks under $35

Now that it’s officially spring (and has been here in Texas since February) I have been itching to update some of my spring wardrobe. All of these pieces are under $35 (except for one, but what’s another $9 in the grand scheme of things?) and most of which are under $20. You’re probaly thinking they must be poor quality right? Nope we have some J.CREW and Banana Republic all up in there. Enjoy :)

vintage stamps are for sale (again!)

As of today, I have officially started taking orders again for vintage stamps. After you guys cleaned me out in less than 48 hours a few months ago it took me a while to play catch up, but I’m back in business again.

stamps1

Vintage stamps can still be used as standard postage today, as long as all of the denominations add up to the standard postage rate. They are all “face value” meaning that whatever number is written on them that’s what they’re worth (ie: .6 cents = .6 cents), and I have several colors, themes, shapes and sizes.

stamps2

The going postage rate for a standard letter right now is .46cents and for an oversize (or square) letter (like wedding invitations) is .66cents. So I’ll be selling them in packs of .46cent sets and .66cent sets so that you will have the exact amount you need for each of your letters. Basically if you buy 10 packs this means you have enough stamps sorted for you to mail 10 letters. Got it?

So after choosing your quantity you can then specify if you simply want a mix of stamps (totally random themes, shapes, sizes, etc.)

or to follow a certain color palette like red:

or to follow a theme like botanicals/nature:

Or if you want your bundle to be small with only a couple stamps with high denominations:

stamps7

Or large with several stamps using small denominations:

stamps6

The choice is yours! I’m charging $1.00 per set of standard .46cent packs and $1.50 per set of oversized .66cent packs. Why am I charging more than their worth? Call it a labor fee. I did sit down for hours to hand pick each and every one of these stamps, none of them are random they are all stamps that I have chosen due to their colors, images, sizes, etc. So you won’t be getting a bunch of American flags and doves (unless you want them?). Any stamp you see pictured above I own, and to see more of my collection go here (which only shows you about 5% of what I have.. I’ve also added a TON of Christmas themed ones for your next Christmas cards). To see more ideas on how to use vintage stamps with your letters go here.

a bit of a shameless plug

Now that I’m not planning  a wedding, I have the time to take on more interior design clients, and a slew of other things. That being said I’ve spent the last few days updating my website to include the services I offer such as:

Interior Designfull service design, e-design, decor in a box, furniture flipping, custom upholstery, and several a la carte items like personal shopping, consultations, etc.

Graphic Designbranding, marketing materials, web design, personal stationary, and wedding items such as invitations, save the dates, menus, programs, etc.

Wedding Planningorganization and budgeting, designing the look and feel of your big day, as well as several DIY projects such as decorations, favors, embroidery, etc.

I enjoyed planning our wedding so much that I wanted to be able to offer this specialty to my clients as well. When I say wedding planning though, I don’t mean “day – of coordinator” I simply mean that I can help you with the services mentioned above up until your wedding day. For actual wedding day services, I recommend hiring a professional day-of coordinator.

Anyway, if you are interested in working with a licensed professional in your home, for your business, or for your big day. Please have a looksie at my website to see how we can get started together. :)

friday finds: happy chic

Okay I realize it’s not actually Friday, but it sure feels like it around here. I mean.. I’m wearing jeans today for crying out loud. Since tomorrow is a holiday, I decided I would post our Friday Finds a day early. I hope you don’t mind. And don’t worry, they are a doozie.

As some of you may already know, our BFF Jonathan Adler has launched a very affordable line at where? JCPenny. What? I know. I had kind of written off Pennys (that’s what I grew up calling it anyway) as a furniture source, but ever since they rebranded last year, they are really hitting it out of the park. I’m still not certain about their clothing, but the furniture department is to die for. Jonathan Adler, Pantone (!!!), Conran, Michael Graves. I mean hello? Dream town. Considering we had a Jonathan Adler / Pantone / Kate Spade wedding, all they would need to do is launch a Kate Spade line (yeah right) and they would have my trifecta of designers. Here are some of my favorite JA pieces.

one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten | eleven | twelve | thirteen | fourteen | fifteen | sixteen | seventeen | eighteen

The furniture is still a little high for me, but considering his sofas usually run for $10,000 these are a steal! I can’t wait to check everything out in person, along with the other collections. Now to decide on what to get :) Which are your favorite pieces?
