We’re continuing with our series featuring some of the creative people that we know. Every Tuesday we will introduce them as they share with us the ten things they can’t live without. Today we are introducing our dear friend and Interior Designer, scarf hoarder, and newly found BFF twin of the girl, Lisa Bodet.
Location: San Antonio, TX

[one] my boys
My husband R.T. and our puppy, Koa, are my home. I have had a crush on R.T. since I was in 7th grade (see embarrassing old photos), we became high school sweethearts, and have now been married for a year and a half. He is my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the love of my life. I feel so lucky to get to spend my life with such an incredible man. We recently took in a “morkie” (errr…maltese + yorkie) puppy, Koa, ironically named for his fierceness. We often refer to him as “Koa bear” because as a baby he looked much more like a stuffed teddy bear than a real dog…and because he loves his teddy bear toy. No matter what is going on, either of my boys can always make me smile.

[two] community
My community is comprised of family, friends, and faith. I have a huge family and appreciate the time we get to spend together since most of us still live in San Antonio. My husband plays bass for a worship band and we stay very involved with our church and the people in it. I am surrounded and blessed by the love of parents, step parents, siblings, in-laws, friends, and Jesus Christ. Everyone needs a community; I continuously thank the Lord for mine.

[three] creating with my hands
I have come to realize, I am an artist with an interior design degree. Architecture school and related jobs have been wonderful challenges for me, but I now know, the physical aspect of making or drawing something is integral to my existence. My soul yearns to paint, draw, build, render, CREATE.

[four] apple products
I am an Apple Brat. iPhone, iPad, iPod, iTunes, MacBook Pro. What was life like before this? Oh right, I am reminded everyday at work as I use a PC and Blackberry. Ugh.

[five] napping, sleeping in, going to bed early..
I can generally fall asleep anywhere, anytime. I don’t have any trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. When I look back on my life, one of my least favorite things was pulling all-nighters in college. Depriving yourself of sleep should be illegal. I love sleep. I really wish I could get by with less.

[six] “back-porching”
This is a term my husband and I have coined to describe one of our favorite pastimes: lounging on our porch, listening to our record player, perhaps an alcoholic beverage in hand, spending quality time with friends, namely our best friend and neighbor, Steven. We have a pretty busy lifestyle right now and back-porching forces us to slow down, relax, and listen, to pleasant tunes and each other.

[seven] spurs basketball
I am a San Antonio native and “I love my Spurs”. My husband and I watch every game of the season, DVR-ing it when we can’t start it on time. We have friends that share in our passion and during the playoffs, we may or may not paint our faces just to watch the games at each other’s houses. That’s normal?

[eight] chips & salsa
If you ask me if I’d like chips and salsa, the answer is always yes. It always sounds good to me. I am pleased with what most restaurants have to offer. I wish I could say I was a chips and salsa connoisseur, with insider knowledge of the best in San Antonio, but I really just get excited when it is on the table. When my hubby and I have some at home, we like Santitas $2 Only chips, and Ana’s Medium Salsa. When you don’t need to worry about it lasting very long, HEB fresh salsa rocks.

[nine] scarves
Scarves are my favorite accessory. I am in complete agreement with the girl; you can wear them year round. My outside of work style is very casual so I tend to dress up my solid v-neck tees with scarves, and keep it interesting by tying them in different ways. You know you come across as liking scarves when your friend goes to Africa and instantly knew the souvenir she should bring back for you is a scarf.

[ten] graph paper
Why doesn’t all paper have gridlines on it? Whether I’m sketching out a plan, taking notes, or just making a list, I prefer to do it on graph paper. I’m not even someone who always designs everything at right angles or is afraid to go outside the lines a little, I just recognize the value of the underlying structure for when you need it!

Until next time!
