Is anyone else as obsessed with women’s gymnastics as we are? And by “we” I mean I’ve gotten Derek pretty hooked. We’re talking, he can predict the scores now and knows you get a deduction for every step you take past your landing. I’ve trained him well. I love the Fab Five this year, in particular Gabby and Jordan. But I still have a small piece of my heart that holds onto the Magnificent Seven (circa 1994). I met Kerri Strug once at a book signing in fourth grade. Being the budding gymnast I was, I was SO excited to meet an Olympic hero of mine. When I got to the front of the line I never realized how short she was. Mind you I was only about 8 or 9 years old but I towered over her like a goon, and she stared up at me like “how are you in gymnastics?” I never had realized I was “tall” [in gymnast land] until that day. So apparently I’d been sticking out like a sore thumb for a while. Needless to say my gymnastics “career” quickly ended due to the fact that I get bored with organized sports or anything that requires physical exertion really, and moved on to the next thing my 9 year old self dreamed up.

I never was one to blend in which is why I was totally comfortable buying these neon yellow pants. I’m not sure that these photos actually convey the caliber of yellow happening with these babies, but let’s just say they meet the safety requirements on a construction site.. where I have also worn them. What? I didn’t want to die.

And yes. Those ARE mosquito bites all over my feet. Thanks summer!
