wedding wednesday: the holy grail of bridesmaid dresses

April 11 2012

I’ve had my eye on a particular Kate Spade dress for my bridesmaids for a while but it was $425. I waited and waited for it to go on sale and hoped it would eventually go to the sample sale where it would be much more affordable [like under $200]. Well it did go on sale online, but it was still $300ish and disappeared instantly [duh]. I was pretty heartbroken, so I started looking for similar styles for the girls, with little to no luck. I found a couple styles by Alfred Sung that were kind of close like this and this. So my mom and I planned to check them out last Saturday. Well Friday afternoon I was minding my own business when my BFFMOH [that's her official title..] sent me a text with this photo:

I just about died. Judging from the context clues in the background I instantly knew she was at the Kate Spade Outlet in San Marcos. So I quickly texted all of the girls and had them figure out their sizing, and my mom and I drove to the outlets to snag four of these babies. Luckily when we got there they had TONS of sizes left and I was able to find everyone’s. My mom and I also wanted to try them on for fun so that happened.

It was true love! The empire waist is totally flattering, and the perfectly pleated skirt has such a feminine flair that makes this dress truly timeless. It basically fit like a glove. You can’t see it here, but the back scoops down elegantly. It’s basically the greatest LBD ever. Oh and the best part? It was marked down 40% from $425, then an additional 30% off of that price PLUS I had a 10% off coupon for my total purchase. Which brought the dresses down to $170 a pop! What???? I know. So I grabbed up everyone’s sizes and skipped on over to the counter, made my big purchase, and was back to SA in a snap.

All in all it was the most worthwhile whirlwind trip ever. And I just loved how perfectly packaged [and color coded] each dress was. Thanks Kate Spade! You always know the way to my heart.

I know all brides say this, but I’m really wishing I would have bought one for myself, it’s just so darn cute! So now that I have this checked off my list I can really start visualizing how the girls are going to look and the whole day is really starting to come together. Never in my life did I think I’d ever find the Kate Spade June dress at such an affordable price, so I’m feeling very very fortunate. The fashion gods are definitely shining down on me :)

What a cracking dress! And a great BFFMOH too! I haven’t even picked my bridesmaids, I’m well slacking in the whole wedding planning department.

It’s better to take your time when choosing. I sort of jumped the gun a bit and just picked a ton of my favorite girls before realizing I had too many for our budget. Whoops! So don’t rush :)

I totally did! You can be the honorary bridesmaid, as long as you don’t have chest hair, it’s a little low cut for you.

You should totally get one for yourself. That fits you perfectly and can be worn for years….the perfect “little black dress”. You may never find one that perfect again!

If you look half as good in your wedding dress as you do in that dress, you’re set. I LOVE that dress!

My in-laws live in San Marcos, but I hardly ever hit the outlets. You’ve inspired me to visit the Kate Spade outlet next time we are in SM.

Thanks Michelle! It’s definitely worth a trip, and be sure to get on their mailing list and they’ll send you all kinds of goodies and discounts. You should also hit up West Elm’s outlet, where you’ll find pillow covers for $6! It’s really a dangerous place.
