rhinos like christmas too

December 13 2011

Mr. Robbie the rhino wasn’t really feeling in the Christmas spirit, so it was about time I made him some DIY garland to jazz him up a bit.

What you’ll need:

1. Fun wrapping paper or scrapbooking paper. I found this roll of metallic purple alligator wrapping paper on sale at HomeGoods.

2. A circle punch, mine is a 1.3″

3. String, I used the BFF bracelet string from Hobby Lobby.

4. Tacky Glue

5. Scissors

Use your circle punch to cut as many circles as possible. I cut the wrapping paper into about 6″ strips so that it was easier to work with.

Dab some glue in a zigzag pattern for more coverage.

Place your string in the center of your circle, and place another circle over it. Spread the glue toward the edges of the circles so that they don’t come undone.

Space your circles however you wish. I chose to space mine about 3″ apart for a more polkadoted effect.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

You can make it as long or as short as you want. I’m probably going to put this on my tree next year!

Now Derek is all excited so I’m probably going to make him a manly book page one for his tree. This was a super easy and cheap project, it only took me about 30min tops and I love the bright color and fun texture it adds.
