We’re continuing with our series called Awesome & Awkward Thursday inspired by our friend Sydney over at The Daybook. We weren’t planning on doing this every week, but we’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from you guys so the series continues!

shirt {madewell}, skirt {jcrew}, scarf {forever21}, belt {jcrew}, shoes {steve madden}, bangle {forever21}, watch {michael kors}, headband {gap}

- The guy at jcrew getting more excited about our skirt purchases than were. “This is such a good deal! I can’t believe the price!” I mean, you work here.. you probably priced them yourself, but you can have mine if you’re that excited, it goes really wall with your frat-daddy tie.
- Swoopy bangs. They’re cute and sassy, but oh so hard to style.
- NIOSA. Which for those of you who don’t know it stands for “A Night in Old San Antonio” and it’s a weeklong festival every evening during Fiesta [which is an even bigger festival.. what can I say? SA likes to party] Anyway, NIOSA has lots of food from different cultures, beer, music, and cascarones. BUT this year, was more like a cattle drive. I guess it’s our fault for waiting until Friday to go, but seriously each person had about 2″ of personal space and we walked about 1′ per hour. It was a claustrophobes nightmare.
- Going to Apple to get my laptop’s mouse fixed, and being told it would take 5 days. WHAT? “don’t worry, if you need it back for Monday you can always pick it up and drop it off at a later time, but we’ll still keep it for 5 days. Um.. I never have a 5-day window where I don’t need my laptop. Craziness. I ended up getting it back 30min later because La Cantera is awesome, but it was still pretty freaky.
- Okay, can we just please pretend that my legs are tan in these pictures? I work inside all day, they don’t see much sunlight! …yet
- Stopping in at Starbucks and asking for a “iced venti choy” I meant to say “iced venti chai with soy” but I guess I was too excited to speak english. What was even more awkward was that I explained my excitement and stuttering to the barista, and he seriously could have cared less. He just stared at me. Awesome.
- During this photo sesh, Derek kept asking if my skirt had pockets because “pocket pictures are cute”, and sadly I said no, but I wished that it did! Then a few hours later while
playing on facebookblogging, I realized they DO have pockets, they were just sewn shut! Too bad it was dark out and the photos were already edited and ready to go, dang it!
- A conversation I had the other day:
Him: “when they say restart your computer, what do they mean?”
Me: “I don’t understand the question.”
Him: “Should I just turn it off and then turn it back on really really fast?”
Me: “You should probably just restart it.”
Him: “What does that mean? OH! Do I click restart?”
And this guy is between 25-30 mind you, he should know a thing or two about computers, you’d think!

- My loooooong overdue haircut! I’ve been growing out my hair for the past year or so, but it was getting pretty scraggly, so my BFF Scott [owner of Salon Rinse at the Oasis] put some life back into it :)
- Also, I love getting paid in haircuts. It’s like an old timey barter system. Need your living room styled? Do my dishes!! ….what? I’m half serious. [More pics on what I did to Scott's new salon soon!]
- My apartment is finally coming together! I know.. it’s been months, but I’ve been busy!
- My parents will be here tonight! We are having a massive DIY weekend, it seems to be our easter tradition.
- Starburst jellybeans. No other jellybean really compares.
- Shopping with my BFF Lauren. I mean people just give us stuff!
- Finding 20 large picture frames for under $20 TOTAL. Go go thrift stores :) [more on that project SOON!]
- My new favorite shop at La Cantera: Langford Market. They’re having a $1 sale right now, as in buy two things get one for $1. Win. Oh and I finally found denim shorts that fit, this has always been a huge battle for me.
What are some awkward/awesome things that have happened to you this week? Embracing the awkward makes you awesome!

your skirt is adorable!

I will never understand why they sew pockets shut, they do this at Banana ALL the time, I spend my meetings spreading each centimeter open…if gives me something productive to do.
She’s MY BFF! ;) I’m jealous. There’s a store named Langford Market in Rice Village, I wonder if it’s the same?!
P.S. Your hair looks great! I love the bangs on you!

crystal-FRESH,
Right? For a minute I thought, maybe they weren’t sewn shut and I’m about to rip a giant hole in the side of my skirt, I mean these suckers were not “lightly” stitched it took some serious pulling. I think we can share Lauren? She is very small though. It IS the same store, they only have a couple locations in Texas and Houston has most of them.. of course. Oh! And thanks for the hair compliment. I wanted to wear it down for these to really show it off, but it was super windy. BUT I’ll see you in real life in 9 days!
