We’re continuing with our series featuring some of the creative people that we know. Every Tuesday we will introduce them as they share with us the ten things they can’t live without. Today we are introducing our dear friend and runner, fellow granola, and beer enthusiast Mike Barrios [@NGU82]
Location: Houston, TX

[one] running
No thinking. Pure and primal.

[two] beer
Civilization as we know it would not exist without this tasty beverage. From pilsner to stout this is one of man’s greatest inventions.

[three] science
All the modern conveniences we love and take for granted. Show some respect.

[four] family & friends
My foundation and my inspiration.

[five] wine
It makes me happy. Is that not enough?

[six] coffee
Coffee improves short-term memory and speeds up reaction times by acting on the brain’s prefrontal cortex. Caffeine modulates a higher brain function through its effects on distinct areas of the brain. Layman terms – It gets sh*t done.

[seven] snl
I’ve been watching since I was in my mom’s belly (props to mom). It shaped my sense of humor and my understanding of the greatest human emotion, laughter. It also taught me to respect improv and stage performance. Hopefully I will be able to watch with my children.

[eight] travel
I suffer from aerophobia, but if fear kept me on the ground I would suffer from a broken heart. New people, places, sights, food! Why wouldn’t I get on that plane?

[nine] music
When the world doesn’t understand. Music does.
“Without music, life would be a mistake.” – Nietzsche

[ten] books
My sanctuary, my escape, my mistress. To Kill a Mockingbird was the first to seduce me and the affair continues. Even if I couldn’t read a word in these bounded treasures I would still love them. I tend to judge a book by its cover.

Stay tuned for text Tuesday when we feature our dear friend and interior designer [Pulp Design Studios], fellow blogger [Hello, Splendor], Etsy shop owner [Hello Splendor Shop] Beth Dotolo. [@hellosplendor]
Until next time!

Have Mike give me a call. I was his neighbor and there is something at his apt delivered today.
Thanks,
Julie
