duds for the new year

December 27 2010

Now that one holiday is over, it’s time to jump right into the next! Do you have a snazzy New Year’s Eve shindig to attend this weekend, or are you keeping it low key this year? Either way we’ve put some of our favorite looks that are perfect for anyone to bring in the New Year!

  1. Pairing a little sparkle like this sequin mini skirt with a simple sweater is a great way to look effortless but still festive.
  2. Throwing on a faux fur leopard jacket with can make boring old jeans and a tshirt look fancy.
  3. Find some fierce flats with a little sparkle to pair with those skinny jeans.
  4. New Year’s Eve is the one time you can never wear too much gold, so throw on some fun graphic bangles to add some personality to your ensemble.
  5. Add some texture and bling with this zipper clutch that’s a little bit rock n’ roll.

  1. A nice sleek watch can dress up any casual outfit, it shows you’re easy going, but you’re here to party.
  2. Throwing on a fun patterned shirt under your blazer adds some fun color and visual interest especially since your blazer and tie are both solids.
  3. A nice colored blazer with a little bit of sheen or even a velour can add that bit of luxury to your jeans and tshirt look.
  4. Pair that blazer skinny tie of the same color palette or you can even go off the Richter scale with a fun complimentary color like a great orange with that blue blazer.
  5. Don’t lose who you are just because you have to gussy up a bit, stick with your same old chucks to add some personality to your look.
  6. When you’re going to the less fancy NYE party, you should come prepared with a nice leather flask since the booze won’t be handed out freely like our decked out friends below.

  1. A clutch is always the way to go when you have a fancy galla to attend. This bow clutch is fun and girly and a great conversation piece.
  2. You can never go wrong with a little black dress it’s classy, it’s timeless, and you can really add some fun accessories for that wow factor.
  3. Throw on a fun cocktail ring to draw attention to you hands while you’re talking, you’re bound to get compliments.
  4. Now for some sparkle! Pair that simple LBD with some fun sparkly shoes notice how the red in the heel matches your red cocktail ring? It’s all in the details.
  5. Add some bling with this crystal orbit necklace to draw attention to your face, some nice faux jewels can really add some glam to a simple dress.

  1. You can never go wrong with a slim black suit, this is like the male equivalent of the LBD, it’s also classy, timeless, and pretty slick.
  2. To stick with that classy look pair it with a white slim fit dress shirt, you’ll look flawless.
  3. To top off the look pair your shirt with a skinny black tie now you mean business.
  4. Another staple is a great pair of black wingtip shoes.
  5. But you don’t want to look too simple, so add some personality with these fun skull cufflinks. When you reach out to shade someone’s hand, they’ll see that you aren’t that serious. [6] Adding a clean crisp white pocket square to that black suite is a show stopper. Very Mad Men, and it really just completes the look.

Now go out there and use this guide to look your best for your big NYE event. We know most of you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend, and even though the items we’ve picked are mostly on the high end of the money scale, you can find any of these at Forever21, Gap, even Target! You don’t have to break the bank to celebrate in style.
