happy weekend!

Sorry you’re all stuck at work, but our weekend started early! We’re also sorry for the lack of bloggage yesterday, but this weekend is bound to be full of blog-worthy goodness which should make up for it.  We’re on our way to visit Cat’s parents’ in Dallas (Commerce for you people who are unfamiliar with the area) sooo we’ll talk to you soon!

stick it to da man.. er.. wall?

As you know we hate wall covering so much that we invented our own, which started out being a joke, but ended up being a big hit among our readers. As we were scoping out the competition, we came across an alternative to wall covering: wall decals! These ideas definitely inspired us! I call dibs on the barcode above the couch!!! :)

Although very awesome, they still don’t hold a candle to “mow your wall”, but what can ya do? Kidding. I really want a bunch of these! Which ones are your faves? Have you seen better ones out there? Tell us about it!

Until next time!

the art of paper art

We have always been obsessed with using paper as an art form. We’ll be walking through Ikea or DWR, looking at the lighting, and are like “we could totally make that” … and with the right materials and time and efforts, we could! However, there are some pretty cool things that you can do with paper that we wouldn’t even dream of attempting. So instead we’ll share them with you guys! It’s inspiring nonetheless to think that people made this stuff with their bare hands! Enjoy :)

Cool right? These people obviously have a lot of spare time on their hands, but we’re glad they do!

Until next time!

dc:finds | coffee tables

Lately Catharine has been coffee table shopping and I just love messing with furniture, and though they were one thing once, coffee tables have become so much more lately. It started as a place to put your drink when you had company and you sat in the “sitting” room with tea or coffee, maybe after a meal. Now they have become more of a “mail, drinks, dinner, remote, and puppy” table. Which is more important, which has more value? To stay a purist and maintain the simplest idea of “table” to hold things up, or elevate them, or do we embrace and make it work for our needs and the modern Tivo, Uverse, Netflix watching freaks that we are? There is such a variety of said beasts, it gets pretty exciting. Check em out, which would you rather (rother) have? I was once told that an object is just an object when it does one thing, when it does 2 things, then your in the realm of architecture. So if you were to build one, or have it custom built, what would it be? I can tell you mine will have pop out drawers and places for magazine, and certainly a little drawer for a remote or 7 and if I’m cool enough, even an electrical plug for when I’m on my couch with my laptop….

who knows :)

So as you can see coffee tables have come a long way, so what does your ideal coffee table look like? What would it do for you?

Until next time!
