Derek and Catharine are husband and wife bloggers that created Your Modern Couple back in 2009 when they first started dating. You can read more about how they met here. Derek popped the question on 11-11-11, and they were married on 12-12-12. Here they blog about their love of design, while turning their Alta Vista rental into a home for two designers and a puppy, one DIY project at a time.

Catharine is a licensed Interior Designer located in San Antonio. You can view her portfolio and services here. She loves to go thrifting every chance she gets, flipping furniture, hot yoga, taking care of their chihuahua – jack russell mix Geoffrey, hunting for the perfect cappuccino, trying to justify her Kate Spade addiction, driving with the sunroof down regardless of the temperature, and hoarding pillows.

 Derek just completed his Master’s degree in Architecture and works at a local firm here in San Antonio. He love building furniture, playing golf, cycling, his Mini Cooper, trying to cope with the fact that Geoffrey loves his mommy more, playing with legos, watching documentaries, obsessing over zombie and preparing for the impending apocalypse (only half kidding).
